Meet Laura,
Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC).

Welcome.

I’m Laura (she/her). I’m a first-generation immigrant, croissant eater, “hobby jumper”, trauma survivor, thoughtful question asker, recovering perfectionist, nature enthusiast, and embracer of life.

I find great privilege in being able to walk alongside other humans in their journeys of reconnection: with themselves and their inner worlds, with the one(s) they are in partnership with, with their loved ones, and with the world that is around them.

What I believe

Central to my work is the deep-seated belief that we as humans have the innate capacity for healing and the answers inside of us. But somehow over time, these get buried by the masks, traumas, and stories that our life circumstances or society places on us. So to survive, we unconsciously or consciously cope in ways we might not fully understand… And in that process, we find that we lose ourselves or our most meaningful connections.

As a therapist and (what Irvin Yalom, existential therapist calls) a “fellow traveller”, my passions lie in supporting and guiding my clients to rediscover the answers that have always lived inside of them. I believe that creating a space of safety, trust, and understanding, as well as providing a framework for exploration of my clients’ deepest inner worlds, may bring about answers that they never knew existed within themselves. In doing so, it is my greatest honour to offer a space to cultivate that connection my clients yearn for – and reintroduce them to living the meaningful lives they crave and deserve.

What can you expect from me?

In our work together, my purpose is not to have all the answers for you. My role is to serve as a guide so that you may discover the intuitive wisdom and capacity for healing you have within, all while gently helping you realize that you were never broken: that you are deeply whole, as you are.

With my practice grounded in anti-oppressive, culturally sensitive, and social justice principles, I view therapy as an individual pursuit of collective liberation. Our work together will be deeply relational and my understanding of you will be shaped by who you are within your contexts: your identities, your past and present relationships, your family history, the cultures that you have been touched by, and larger societal systems. By first understanding who you are, we may then start to uncover your most authentic and connected self – who you were truly meant to be.

Professional Credentials & Trainings

I believe in ongoing training and education to ensure that I am providing the best care and support to my clients. In my view, therapy is simultaneously an art, a science, and a craft… And in therapy, the practitioner is the tool of the craft. Thus, it is my greatest privilege to routinely sharpen my tool so that I may co-create a space with my clients for the healing and transformation they deserve.

In addition to my degrees and my advanced training, I routinely engage in clinical supervision to ensure that I am providing the best possible care and support for my clients. I also ensure that I regularly adhere to and exceed the standards of practice and ethical code of the BC Association of Clinical Counsellors.
